About Mark Crisp
The man behind Stratera.
“I’ve seen what does and doesn’t work in the accounting world”
I discovered an affinity for accounting while I was working in the family business, finding that I liked working with numbers and finite results. When I was considering a career change, our family accountant asked if I’d considered studying accounting at uni. It was then that I enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Newcastle.
While I was studying, I started my own bookkeeping business which lead to a job with a local accounting firm. After several years with that firm and hungry for more experience with bigger clients, I scored a position with Forsythes in 2005. In 2010 one of my clients approached me to work for them as their Finance Manager which I did until the end of the mining boom.
This was the catalyst for founding Stratera Accountants in 2016.
After 20 years of working with individuals, companies, large and small businesses, I’ve seen what does and doesn’t work in the accounting world. Stratera is derived from the Latin word meaning balance and our whole ethos is built around proactively finding solutions for our clients, helping them to build and future-proof their businesses so they can live the lives they want to.
When I’m not accounting, you’ll find me outside somewhere, riding my bike, surfing, snorkelling or playing my guitar.
